Our Story
How It Started?
Hello Everyone, I was born in a small town in Nepal. Seeking better opportunities, I decided to move to Kathmandu, the capital city, during my teenage years. There, I began learning the art of silver jewelry making. After a few years of dedication, I became a skilled artisan. By the grace of God, I had the fortune of meeting my godfather, Mr. Jos Bus from the Netherlands, who has since passed away. He played a pivotal role in my journey, helping me achieve my dreams. Mr. Bus introduced me to his Dutch friends, which gave me the opportunity to sell my silver jewelry and showcase my art in the Netherlands. His support provided me with the platform I needed to transform my life and career.
How We Make a Difference
With over 35 years of experience in the silver jewelry business, I have had the privilege of training more than 50 silversmiths. Many of them come from marginalized communities. This training has enabled them to earn a stable income, secure a roof over their heads, provide food for their families, and educate their children. Through this journey, I’ve realized the importance of not just personal success but also creating opportunities for others to thrive.
Social Contribution
Throughout this journey, I have worked to give back to my village, Khadkabhanjyang in Nuwakot. One of my proudest achievements is building schools together with my Dutch friends Dr.William,Thea,Domenique,Dorreth,Ida,so that children from poor families can access proper education and have a brighter future. In addition to education, I’ve also addressed the critical issue of drinking water in my village. With the support of my Dutch friend Jan Nijland, I was able to build water taps, providing much-needed access to clean drinking water for the community. These projects are a testament to how collective effort and compassion can bring meaningful change to the lives of many.
Shree Pragatishil Secondary School was established with the help of “Dr. Willem de Lint & Netherlands Oral Hygiene Society, Social worker Dambar Bahadur Bishwokarma and province no.3 Government’s Financial Support.
